About the Tutor

Brian is a professional Artist specialising in Watercolour his paintings have exhibited at Open Exhibitions Internationally gaining numerous awards from the RI, RWS, RWA and RSMA Art Societies. He is a member of The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour based at the prestigious Mall Galleries in London.

Brian sells his work at various galleries around the UK and at Open Exhibitions. He tutors Watercolour and Acrylic on a regular basis at West Dean College along tutoring painting holidays around the world. He also runs weekly Watercolour Workshops on Zoom which have proved successful since Covid. He also demonstrates and tutors workshops at art societies around the UK and Europe.

Brian regularly writes feature articles in Art magazines worldwide including The Art of Watercolour, International Artist and The Artist.

Overview

Due to popular demand, we have added a second painting break in 2024 at this lovely retreat.

Come and join Brian to capture the stunning location of this tucked away jewel to the coastal vista, which is close at hand.

Join me to fine tune your skills building on existing knowledge, looking to grow on your artistic journey.

Working on small, quick exercises through studio paintings to the excitement of the plein air all within the exclusive grounds of Westcott Barton.

We will explore concepts and build on established individual preferences. Remember brain before brush let the pigments play.

Itinerary

We will gather during the afternoon around 3pm on Friday 9th August settling in our accommodation which is solely for our use. As the afternoon progresses with a demonstration, discussion and good food as we acclimatise in this unique retreat.

We then have 3 days of indulgence with paper and paint within the studio and the beautiful grounds which will allow us to push our boundaries and challenge our perspectives. Returning to the real world after breakfast on Tuesday morning.

During our stay we have full board starting with dinner on Friday evening at around 6.30pm. On top of that there will be tea, coffee and biscuits which are freely available in our studio breaks.

Course spaces are limited to 12 participants to ensure Brian has the ability to provide you with personal advice and support during your time here.

Skill Level

All painting abilities welcome.

Painting Media

All media welcome.

You will need to bring:

All your own materials and equipment relating to your chosen mediums. Easels for working outside could be useful.

A detailed list of suggested materials and equipment will be available after your booking is confirmed.

Cost of Course

INTRODUCTORY OFFER

Single occupancy in secure room, with own bathroom facilities: £630 per person.

Single occupancy room or shared room (twin or double), but sharing bathroom facilities: £575 per person (minimum booking for two and both must be participating in the retreat).

Non-participating partners sharing a course participant's room are welcome: £430 per person and includes meals. This option is subject to availability.
